Out and About

Whanganui Literary Festival

I had the pleasure to introduce Whanganui Literary Festival’s guest speaker Helen Leahy - author of “Crossing the Floor: the Story of Tariana Turia” (also former Chief of Staff Maori Party & snr ministerial advisor to the Hon Dame Tariana Turia) and current CEO Sth Island Whanau Ora Commissioning Agency - sharing whakaaro (thoughts) & matauranga (knowledge & wisdom) & an address on “Leadership resides within us all”.

An inspiring aspirational, aspirational inspiring address - unleashing potential within us all within the constructs of what delivers and responds best. This is an essence of Tino rangatiratanga- self-responsibility, determinedness & determination.

St John’s Ambulance

I spent a good part of a day with St John’s Ambulance Whanganui. These gals n guys are a primary health care service and first responders to emergency needs and a pivotal link into other primary care services for our communities.

I’m sure that, like I was until today, many in our community are not aware of the full extent of the good and great work St John’s Ambulance does.
A+ & stars for these guys n gals. Big Ups from me. And I hope our communities too.

South Taranaki RSA Centenary and VC Commemorations

I was honoured to attend and speak at the South Taranaki RSA centennial and the unveiling of memorial statues of WW1 Victoria Cross recipient honorees Harry LAURENT VC and John GRANT VC. This was an historic day for Hawera & South Taranaki. We will remember.

I attended the Whanau Ora Conference in Auckland. Here I am with the whaea of Whanau Ora - Dame Tariana Turia & my colleagues the Hons Alf Ngaro & Louise Upston
